I'm guessing that every American at some point or another has or will put together a list of the states they've visited and which ones they haven't. This weekend I finally crossed the 50% mark. With Virginia and Maryland under my belt I am left with only 24 more states to visit in order to hit all 50. I'm 25 and have made it half way there, so it's reasonable to say that by the time I'm 50 years old I'd like to have been to every state, right? Here is a list of the states I have left:
- Washington
- Oregon
- North Dakota
- South Dakota
- Nebraska
- Kansas
- Oklahoma
- Iowa
- Wisconsin
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Tennessee
- Alabama
- South Carolina
- North Carolina
- West Virginia
- Ohio
- Delaware
- Pennsylvania
- Connecticut
- Vermont
- Alaska
- Hawaii
I have no idea what in the world is going to take me to states like Alabama or either of the Carolinas, but I guess I've got another 25 years to figure that out (hopefully...)
I think that you're less likely to hit 25 more states in the next 25 years. The states you've been to already are the cool ones. All you've got left are the boring ones like North and South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin...
ReplyDeleteI hear the Carolinas have some awesome coastlines...
ReplyDeleteAlmost heaven, West Virginia.
ReplyDeleteYeah, too bad you didn't think of this before you started traveling. You could've saved some of the cool ones for last.
ReplyDeleteI'm not traveling with Johnny anymore
Come on man... I still have Alaska and Hawaii! And Ohio has the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame
ReplyDeleteOn my flights across the country the summer, I counted the states I've been to on the napkins. 36! You just need to drive across the country when you move to Boston. Then go on a cruise to Alaska. Then go work in Hawaii for two months. It's easy.
ReplyDeleteThis list doesn't represent states I've merely driven through or had a connecting flight through. I've only counted states I actually visited for a specific purpose.
ReplyDeleteif you drove across the country to Pittsburgh you could knock out six more of those states on your list, just saying, i know someone in Pittsburgh who would probably let you stay in their house if you visited.
ReplyDeleteFirst, Whats your criteria for "visited"? Second. The carolina's are actually cool. I think I've done 28 and Anna has done 35
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that my sister Janette has been to ALL the states now - so I HAVE to give it a go! The deep south is where I'm lacking most! I like Sara and Bob's idea...let's visit them!
